What Our Clients Are Saying

Achieving Great Things Together

Clemson University Football

When I got the Head Coaching job at Clemson University in 2009 one of the first things that I wanted to do was hire a performance psychologist.  I recognized that so much of this game is mental and my players needed a resource to be able to sit down and maybe learn how to think a little differently.  I also knew that problems arise with young people and it was important to have someone on my team that could help them deal with some of the struggles of life that can arise from time to time.  As a coach we must wear many hats in order to inspire, motivate, teach, discipline and prepare our players, but sometimes the player needs another voice or outlet to vent or discuss his situation.  The coaches need that as well, after all, “life” happens for all of us.   Milt Lowder has been that guy for me since 2009.  As I built my staff and infrastructure, I wanted to make sure that I provided my players and staff with all the resources that they needed to be successful.  Over the past 8 years, Milt and I have met for about 30 mins every Wednesday afternoon to discuss my thoughts for the week and to get his feedback.  I created “Momentswith Milt” on Thursdays to allow Milt to have 5-10 mins in our Thursday morning staff meetings and then for him to be in front of the entire team that afternoon.  He has done an excellent job in performing his role for our team and has been an integral part of our success since 2009.  Milt is a professional at what he does and has become a trusted friend.  I highly recommend Milt and his group if you are looking for that extra edge in your performance or need help in dealing with a curveball in life.

Cory’s work with our team and the individual players in improving their mental performance was key to us winning the ACC Championship!  His unique approach helped players to understand and unlock their inner strengths including attitude and mindset.  He helped them realize and understand they controlled and what they did not control.

His experience in the field allows him to relate to any of our student athlete concerns, while also instilling confidence in their own abilities. He does an excellent job of connecting with athletes and coaches to give them applicable mental skills exercises that can help take their game to the next level. Several years ago, we realized that our interview and onboarding processes were inadequate for the pace of growth in our organization. Dr. Brannon partnered with us to understand our needs and the unique risks we were facing as a church. Together, we crafted a plan for how he could advise us as leaders and help us be more effective gatekeepers of our organization and leadership culture. Dr. Brannon has consistently helped us identify potential issues before they arise, which has resulted in us being more confident and measurably effective in hiring and onboarding new staff.

Our surgical group was in need of help with physician burnout, stress, and resulting poor communication. Dr. Brannon put together a relaxed but extremely effective session after taking the time to identify some of our individual and group goals. The information was spot-on, and our entire group felt like this was a real turning point for us, and it gave us critical skills to evaluate and help to manage our individual and corporate stress triggers. We plan to continue to utilize Dr. Brannon’s skills in follow up sessions on a regular basis and when we onboard any new partners.

When my administrator asked me to put together a collection of workshops for our annual Teachers’ Convention, I knew immediately I wanted to share with them the inspirational work of Dr. Carol Dweck on Growth Mindset. Because Dr. Milt Lowder of Synergy Group was the one who first put Carol’s book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success into my hand, I reached out and invited him to share a workshop with our teachers. Pulling both from the book and from his own personal experiences as a father, teacher, and sport psychologist for Clemson, Dr. Lowder presented one of the most challenging and energizing workshops I’ve been a part of. The conversations that workshop sparked have been fantastic and unifying, and I’ve been thrilled with the ways our teachers continue to implement Growth Mindset into their classrooms. As we continue to grow as educators and as a school, we are grateful to have Dr. Lowder and the team at Synergy Group partnering with us.

PresbyterianDr. Brannon has been our consulting sport psychologist for the past five years. He’s proven to be an invaluable part of our team. We strive to care for our student-athletes as holistically as possible and realize that their mindset and psychological approach are key variables in their success—personally, academically, and athletically. Dr. Brannon has worked with our teams, individuals, and coaches to address the unique challenges faced in the competitive world of division I college athletics. We have great trust in Dr. Brannon and value the contributions he has made to our athletic department.

Dr. Brannon has been an amazing resource for our Sports Medicine Group at Greenville Health System (GHS). In addition to being a trusted referral source and resource for our patients, Dr. Brannon has taken time out of his busy schedule each year to contribute to the education of our Sports Medicine fellows. Annually, he leads a conference for our group on various topics relevant to our patient population. His sessions are always very well received and a critical part of the core curriculum for our fellows. In addition, he has lectured at our annual Sports Medicine Symposium, which provides 10-12 hours of continuing medical education for dozens of Athletic Trainers in the GHS system and at other surrounding high schools and colleges. He is our primary resource for psychological issues in our athletic population, and certainly one of the leading experts in the region. We very much value him as an academic and clinical resource, and would recommend his services to anyone.
